A Truly Unforgettable Experience at Gyalbo Guest house

A Truly Unforgettable Experience

My stay at the Gylabo Guest House in Goljung village was nothing short of incredible. I have visited Nepal multiple times and each time I choose to stay here for a genuine connection with the local people and Tamang culture.
From the moment I arrive in Nepal, I have always felt genuinely welcomed and truly cared for.
They always help arrange my stay (and local sightseeing adventures) around Kathmandu and provide safe and comfortable transportation to and from the guest house in Goljung Village.

The Ghale family are some of the kindest people I’ve ever met and are ALWAYS concerned with our safety and comfort. They are always smiling, ready to help, and deeply proud of their beautiful home and culture and genuinely love to share and build connections with their guests.
“Nepal is not for beginners” but having knowledgeable and trustworthy guides throughout the whole trip makes the experience easier for travelers of any ability and experience level.

I am not much of a trekker (but I am a photographer) so a highlight is always the guided treks. Our guide, Norbu, is an amazing person. Intelligent, patient, and passionate about the region and his village. He shared stories about his experience, pointed out local wildlife along the way, and made sure the pace was comfortable…allowing me to CONSTANTLY stop and take purposeful and meaningful photos.
The food is another standout. Everything was freshly prepared, and most ingredients come straight from their own organic gardens. From Mr. Ghale’s hearty soup to THE BEST homemade dal bhat, every meal was comforting, delicious, and full of care. They delighted me each morning with homemade Tibetan bread, local honey and vegetable omelets.
Some of my favorite experiences have always been in the Ghale’s kitchen; cooking and building connections with the family while learning about the local ingredients grown on the property…the fresh vegetables are ALWAYS amazing.

What I appreciate most is how the experience always embraces and celebrates the local Tamang culture. I have been fortunate to attend puja ceremonies, to learn about traditional customs while walking through the surrounding villages, see the beautiful terraced farmlands, enjoy conversations by the stove (the heart of the house), and just experience the daily life in the village.
It has always felt genuine and meaningful—nothing staged, just real hospitality and REAL connection.

If you’re traveling to the Langtang region and want a stay that combines adventure, and authentic cultural connection, I can’t recommend the Gylabo Guest House enough.
